Old-Fashioned Smoked Sausage, Sauerkraut, & Apples

1- 16 oz. lean smoked sausage, chunked in 1 inch pieces

1/2 cup red onion, chopped

1/2 cup chopped green pepper

2 Tbs. Butter Buds

1 medium red apple, chunked with peel

1 can sauerkraut, drained

1 tsp. dried sage

1 tsp. nutmeg

salt & pepper to taste

 

Brown sausage chunks in skillet sprayed with Pam.  Remove from pan.  Saute onion & green pepper in 1 Tbs. Butter Buds until onions are translucent.  Add apple & remaining 1 Tbs. of Butter Buds.  Saute, stirring, for 1 more minute.   Add sauerkraut, sausage, & seasonings.  Mix well, cover, & simmer for 10 minutes.
